Have you ever heard of gorge rice? There are several versions about the origin of this delicious dish. The most famous one says that it was created by the tropeiros who traveled for the interior of Minas Gerais, more precisely in the region of gully (border between São Paulo and Minas). And, as in tropeiro rice, they used in a single pan, all the leftover ingredients they had. Another explanation for the name barranco is the fact that it is a tall dish full of ingredients, with the risk of falling apart, or rather, breaking down. Whatever the origin, it is a delicious dish that is worth repeating at home! Most of the ravine rice recipes include pepperoni sausage as one of the ingredients, but we chose to replace it with a very common food on Brazilian tables: ground beef.
