Recipe of gorge rice with ground beef

Have you ever heard of gorge rice? There are several versions about the origin of this delicious dish. The most famous one says that it was created by the tropeiros who traveled for the interior of Minas Gerais, more precisely in the region of gully (border between São Paulo and Minas). And, as in tropeiro rice, they used in a single pan, all the leftover ingredients they had.

Another explanation for the name barranco is the fact that it is a tall dish full of ingredients, with the risk of falling apart, or rather, breaking down. Whatever the origin, it is a delicious dish that is worth repeating at home!

Ingredients for making gullet rice with ground beef:

 1 tablespoon of oil

 ½ chopped onion

 500 grams of ground beef

 1 grated carrot

 1 chopped tomato

 1 pinch of salt

 1 cup of rice

 2½ cups of hot water

How to make gorge rice with ground beef:

To prepare this recipe for stew rice from a pan just bring a high pan over medium heat and add the oil and onion. Stir until golden brown.

Then place the minced meat and mix well. Sauté for 2 minutes (the meat does not need to cook completely before the next step, as it will finish cooking together with the other ingredients).

To add more color and flavor to your rammed rice with ground beef, then add the carrot and tomato and sprinkle a little salt.

Finally add the rice and cover with hot water.

Reduce the heat to the minimum and cook your rammed rice in a pan, without stirring, until the water is dry.

When the water has dried, turn off the heat and wait a few minutes, without stirring, for the rice to finish cooking with the residual heat. Unmold your rut rice on a plate.

Tip: it is important not to stir the rice during and after cooking to be able to unmold correctly and achieve a beautiful presentation of the dish.
